Home Remedies to clean your windows

Cleaning your windows may seem like a menial task, but it needs to be done. Naturally, everyone’s go to window cleaner is Windex. If you are out of Windex there are many other options to keep your windows streak free.

Dish soap

The simplest home remedy is to mix a few drops of dish soap with water. It gives you all the benefits of using Windex, and you are sure to always have some in your home. Not only can you save money by not having to buy Windex, but the simple combination of soap and water may actually be more beneficial than using Windex. It is less likely to leave streaks behind, leaving less work for you.

Vinegar

This is also typically found in every household, especially if anyone likes to bake. Vinegar is extremely versatile in its uses. Because it is non-toxic, many people prefer using vinegar as a cleaning product. It has the same effects but with no disadvantages. Vinegar is also affordable and can be easily found in any store. In addition to leaving your windows spot free, vinegar can be used to clean a variety of other household objects including rings and mirrors.

Dry cloths

An alternative to liquid cleaning is simply using a dry cloth. Your windows are guaranteed to remain streak free by using this method. The disadvantage to using solely a dry cloth depends on how dirty your windows actually are. Cotton cloths work very well for this type of cleaning job. Surprisingly, even a newspaper could be very effective for polishing your windows. For a simple dust job, a dry cloth works wonders. If your window is extremely dirty, you may need liquid cleaner to effectively get all the dirt.

Lemon Juice

This works the same way vinegar does for your windows. The benefit of lemons over vinegar is the smell. You’ll get the same streak free outcome at the inexpensive cost but this will leave your house smelling great too.

Rubbing Alcohol

Again this works the same way vinegar does. Your windows will be streak free at an inexpensive cost. Unfortunately the smell of rubbing alcohol is similarly unpleasant, but it is a small price to pay for sparkling, streak free windows.

Vodka

Just as you can use rubbing alcohol, regular alcohol works the same way. This may be a more expensive option. This would be recommended if you happen to have a spare bottle of vodka hanging around. Of course, this option does make window cleaning much more fun for you!

Cornstarch

A mixture of cornstarch and water will not only clean your windows but will repel dirt. Again, this option is inexpensive and for anyone that cooks you’re likely to have it lying around your kitchen.
