Avoiding a Streaky Finish

Is there anything more frustrating than cleaning your windows, only to walk by later and see streaks? Streaky windows are almost as annoying as dirty windows. Here are some tips for how to avoid a streaky finish.

-Skip the window cleaner you find on the store shelves. Instead, make your own window cleaner by mixing vinegar and water in equal parts, and put it in a spray bottle. You can get a spray bottle at any grocery store for just a dollar or two. Remember to be safe, and label the bottle!

-If for some reason you do need to use soap, go easy on it. Soap leaves a residue, so the less you use on glass, the better.

-Do not use paper towels! They will always leave streaks, and what’s more, they will leave lint on the glass. Instead, use a microfiber cloth, a squeegee, or newspaper.

-Even with all of this, you might still have a stray streak. For those streaks, use the microfiber cloth or newspaper to buff away the streak. A squeegee is not great at buffing.
